I'm often asked, "How do you get started making websites?" While there are various community colleges and even some of the more progressive colleges teaching courses from beginner to advanced HTML design, right now there is no official "Webmaster Certification" program. The majority of people who are designing and building web pages are self taught. One of the reasons this is so so common is that you can start with something simple, like exporting a document from your word processor as HTML, and progress to the more difficult stages of development in fairly simple stages. Learning web development is an ongoing process; the current "state of the art" is continuosly evolving — even seasoned professionals can never consider themselves "done". This site is designed to answer some of the more common questions beginners have, as well as cover some intermediate and advanced topics, and to provide a reference point for the tools and utilities you'll need to do the job right.
