Crazy Chain thing...
If you comment... 1. I'll respond with something random I like about you. 2. I'll tell you what song/movie/recipe reminds me of you. 3. I'll name something we should do together. 4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me). 5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you - that I remember. 6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you. 7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you. 8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people. [Really, I don't care if you post it or not.]

Fairies and Pirates .. OH MY!
Wow this is cool! First I found out about a magazine called Fairie. And then I found out about this: I wonder if Tia Dalma will be in that one?!?!?
The head!
Here are some more photos of my retreat project doll. These are mostly for the pattern maker ( Marsha Krohn - Hi Marsha!) to look at and see what I did with my head since I cut it wrong.

Hair plates...
So it's always funny when the new Mohair plates arrive... each of us spends time with it on our head, trying to decide if that would be a good "look" for us... this time, Mark looked the best - with the maroon mohair and his "Spinal Tap" look...
Felt!
A while back, I learned a technique called Nuno Felting from Elaine. I took a stab at it this weekend, and here are the results: I decided that I would use this for a doll I'm working on that is a retreat project I'll be finishing in a couple of weeks. My pre-retreat homework was to finish the arms and under-body of the doll, I will finish the outer body at retreat and it will be covered with the same felt. And while I was looking for embellishment possibilities, I found this in my stash. How cool is that?!?!

OP Sewing rooms...
It's dangerous when I start visiting other peoples' blogs! Now I have to go look at all these sewing rooms too! ::sigh::
Are you lookin' at my legs?!?
Does anyone have a good resource for Crazy Quilting? I have some wool felt squares here and I want to cut them up and make a bag... I realize the point is to be able to use your scraps, but that's not what I'm doing... suggestions? What size should the pieces be if the finished bag is about 10X10? While I was looking around for ideas, I found this: Crazy Cups: The ExhibitBack to my search...

Ultimate Automata..
Check out the current episode of MAKE: - a vidcast about Ernie Fosselius. He has the COOLEST Automata I have seen - with really simple mechanics. A google search turns up his film work, but not much on his whittling and mechanics. Thanks MAKE!

My friend Elaine is going to show us a felting method this Sunday. In preparation for that, I went searching to see what it was all about, and found this treasure trove of info.

The cave
As promised, here are some photos of the "cave" I work in. There really is more room than this looks like, and I know where everything is, so it's not that bad. The best part about it being small is that no one wants to hang out in there with me. LOL! The view from just outside the doorway looking in: The view from just outside the doorway looking in and to the right (there is a television set there): Stepping inside, and looking to the left around the corner: The view of the television as seen from my chair: This room is actually a walk in closet just off my bathroom. Very well hidden from the rest of the house - hence "the cave". :)
Gotta buy a lottery ticket...

Creepy House
This is an Art Installation in East Texas. We passed it yesterday on our way out of town, it's VERY WEIRD... click the photos for a larger image... It's creepy in the sense that you expect it to be pulsing and making a weird noise... And then when I got home, I found out what it's actually about: Explanation from the July print edition of Buzz Texas magazine The Burning House by Bob Bowman

Yard work...
Ok,it's not the cave, but yard work took over. Here are a couple of photos from outside in the "big room". :) A dragon fly has been sitting on the tree in my yard that I have been nursing for a week. Everyone thought it was dead because it lost all it's leaves, but I knew better. This dragon fly shows up every afternoon to perch here. Isn't that weird? And this flower is my daughter's favorite. It's from some pepper plant - that purple and black flower will turn into a red pepper that will burn your lips off! ACK! She bought the plant so I could see the flowers, but by the time she got it home, they had been replaced. We keep watching for the flowers, and this is the first time I've seen them. They are so tiny, and very hard to capture without a steady hand.
