Mush alert! 21 years is a long time...
Happy Birthday, Alaina! Look who came to sing! Then: Now: The "outside" has changed, but the message is the same. I see your true colors.... and that's why I love you. :) (Ok, I'll quit being a mush.)

More Happy Birthday to me!
Say it with me... AAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!! My friend Angela made him for me! (Thank you Angela!) He has a name... but he forgot it because he was terrified when I was taking his pic... Wouldn't you be? These are the things you find in the Blue Box... I don't know what I will do with that head yet, but that torso girl is SO getting some tinker toys and just generally getting the Sid treatment. *I did NOT tear her up - she came that way! Anyway... my husband and son gave me some of the BRIGHTEST flowers on the planet! Cool, eh? And before you go... look at this one more time: He's SOOOOOOOO CUTE! (Yes, that's a hand knit sweater, hat and pants!) Did I mention that Angela rules? Blue Box: Actually a blue rubbermaid container, filled with the cast-offs from members of a local doll group. Each month, a lucky member (!) gets to take it home, rummage through, take what she wants, put something back in (from her stash) and then return it the next month....

B-day yarn stash
A couple of weeks ago, I went to Tuesday Morning to look around. While I was there, I discovered they had YARN! So I immediately started digging... skipping the eyelash and fun fur, I saw some yarn that looked promising... YAY! 50% wool / 50% silk! SCORE! Just the thing I needed for some basic stash building. They also had an Art Bin knitting bag for cheap (including a needle roll!)... so that came home with me too... When I got home with it, my husband took it and wouldn't let me have it until today. Ta Da! When I get back from playing Kung Fu Taxi, I'll post these on Ravelry...
Today is actually my Birthday....
I bought the iPod in a fit of FanGrrl the day it came out... it's still as cool as it was last week! So today, I'm NOT WORKING! I learned how to calculate this:483 days, 20 hours, 15 minutes and 18 seconds smoke free. 4838 cigarettes not smoked. $968.00 and 1 month, 6 days, 22 hours of your life saved. Your quit date: 5/18/2006 12:00:00 PM from Beaunoze via QuitNetWhy don't I see a bigger yarn stash around here ?!?!? Oh WAIT... it's my BIRTHDAY! DUH... :: runs off to take pics of new yarn ::

I wouldn't give you 10 CENTS
It's bad enough when people who have no kids try to give you advice for free, but to ask me to pay $10 PER PARENT to listen to your advice? I wouldn't give you 10 CENTS for parenting advice since you *HAVE NO KIDS* ... much less teenagers and 20 year olds! I don't care WHAT book you get your information from - until you have BEEN HERE and DEALT WITH IT you have no clue - book or not. Do NOT go there with me. Sorry. Had to be said.

The new iPod... are people just that bad at math?
I'll admit to being a total fangirl, I reloaded the announcement blogs yesterday with the rest of them in hopes of getting an iPod with a touch screen... you know, an iPod with like a 60G capacity, wide screen and that cool touch interface? When the iPhone came out, it wasn't worth it to me for several reasons, the biggest being that I don't really need all of that in one gadget. So yesterday Apple came out with the new iTouch... cool touch screen and all, but DANG I don't need all those "features" - I don't even go to Starbucks, much less feel compelled to purchase the music that the black-frame-glasses-wearing manager of the day chose to put on the speakers. GAH! I don't want to be interrupted with pop-ups about being in range of a Wireless network, and can you imagine how much space all those "features" are going to take up? Sorry, but 8G isn't that much when you consider that OSX, Safari, iTunes and all that other are hogging up some of your precious space! And I'm not paying for a 16G either... So I'll just get the new Nano and be done with the whole iPod thing. Grrrrrrr (Why didn't I get an 80G or 160G "classic" ? I don't have enough media to fill up either of those... and on top of that - I don't have a hard drive capable of holding 160G. Duh!)

Do something useful with your money!
I hardly ever watch Oprah, but I caught the last few minutes of it today where she was talking about Kiva.org: Kiva.org is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website. By enabling people to connect with and make personal loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world, Kiva.org is revolutionizing the fight against global poverty. You can make a direct loan of as little as $25 to an entrepreneur to purchase business-related items such as sewing machines or livestock. This can dramatically improve the life of an entrepreneur and his/her family, empowering them to earn their way out of poverty. SWEET!
