The dog is USELESS!
We have this dog,
Eddie, and he is useless.
The neighbors behind us have rats in their shed. Sometimes they come over to our house and live in the wall behind the air conditioner unit. This happens when it gets below about 50 in our neighborhood.
Apparently, the rats have discovered the dogs' food, or he has made friends with them.
I will try to get a picture if this happens again, but I was looking out the back window earlier...the dog was in the yard, (which is NOT overgrown by the way) and there was this rat that looked every bit like a teenager with bed-head walking casually over to the dogs' bowl of food. The only thing the rat DIDN'T do was scratch his butt on his way to his breakfast!
I tapped on the window to get the dogs attention and he gave me that typical ARRUGH? look... and I said GET THE RAT! but it took him too long... he went over to his bowl, SNIFFED THE RAT... and came back to the window.
UGH! USELESS!
(Hey Kim - can Gig'Em come visit for about a week?)

Foster kitty!
Meet Gracie. I found her* this weekend while on a walk during a retreat in Gonzalez, Texas. She is VERY sweet and very bony... but she has no ear mites, and was not showing signs of having intestinal problems... other than being malnourished, she seems healthy. She is also VERY sweet!
She rode in the car with me for 3 hours yesterday and did not complain much at all! She freaked out for about 2 minutes when I put her in the car, but otherwise she was fine. I had her a nice box all prepared. Yeah, she slept in my lap.
She is going to the vet this morning so we can find out if she is "clean". If she is disease free, she will live with Kristi and 2 other cats. If not, she'll be living here for a while until we can find her a home.
* if we find out "she" is a "he" later today, we'll have to change this.Meet Retreat Kitty. HE is very sweet! HE has tested negative for all nasty diseases (YAY!) but he DID have ear mites and a bacterial infection in his ear. I struck out on all of that.. but Kristi and I were suspect that he might be a HE by the time we got to the church after retreat.
He has 2 weeks of quarantine, and hopefully he will integrate well into his new home... now we need a name for him...
UPDATE: His name is Solomon and he's doing fine!
