Maker Faire
We went to the Maker Faire in Austin this weekend. More details later, but I had to put this up. In the large barn, there were several robotics displays. This one is called the Ponginator made by the Robot Group in Austin. (YouTube)
So this thing shoots ping pong balls that they printed on with a ping-pong-printer they constructed. (see the link after the Ponginator video).
The video shows the 2007 model, this year it's on a lift. So when they load up the guns and get ready, they lift the robot into the air, and "she" starts talking. Looking for people, announcing cautions...
And people start gathering around waiting for the show:
Seems innocent enough... until you hear this:
That's right! The WHOLE PLACE got Rick Rolled! At least 20 times a day... The first time I heard it I said "NO he didn't!" ...and when I went to see if I could find the culprit, I caught him red handed:
LOL! I have no idea how many actually understood why that song would suddenly play in the middle of "warming up" the robot, I guess we're just uber-nerds. :D (Thanks for the laugh Vern!)
from an e-mail...
I was having a conversation with a friend about a mutual acquaintance and some of her shenanigans. (Ok, we were trash talking, but I digress.)
So anyway, after we "took her inventory", my friend said:
".....and that was a brief psychology moment brought to you by the fine people of "I don't think so" cologne....for those occasions when you want people to stand back!"
and that's the funniest thing I have read in a LONG time!
